Who gets to the Mugot – Museo Gotica Toscana can watch from the road going up to the Giogo and then admire up close in the museum forecourt a 2:3 scale replica of a famous German aircraft, the Messerschmitt BF109E.
E’ arrivato in pessime condizioni alla fine di agosto 2023, acquistato tra gli oggetti di un set cinematografico; ma subito è stato ‘adottato’ dai volontari di Gotica Toscana apt che lo hanno amorevolmente restaurato come sa fa chi cura la ricerca storica e sa dedicarsi con passione agli oggetti, mezzi e reperti del secondo conflitto mondiale. Appena arrivato già destava la curiosità di adulti e bambini; smontato, rotto, scolorito sembrava atterrato per sbaglio davanti al MUGOT.
After two months of patient restoration and remaking of missing parts by volunteers, the Messerschmitt BF109E has become a source of wonder and one more reason to visit the Gothic Museum.
La livrea scelta – cioè la colorazione – è quella del Jadgeschwader 53 “Pikas”, che il 25 Aprile 1944 si rese protagonista dell’abbattimento del B-24 SN 41-29272 del 450th Bomb Group USAAF sopra i cieli di Marradi, aereo alleato del quale siamo in possesso di alcuni pezzi. Questa è un’altra bella storia di guerra che i più non conoscono, da raccontare ai più giovani per conservare la memoria della guerra nel Mugello e sull’Appennino Tosco-Emiliano.
It hadn’t arrived yet and it was already arousing the curiosity of adults and children; dismantled, broken, discolored, it seemed to have landed by mistake in front of the MUGOT. After two months of restoration thanks to the members of the Gotica Toscana Museum, the Messerschmitt BF109E, obviously a replica, has become an attraction not only for those who visit the Museum. The livery chosen is of the Jadgeschwader 53 “Pikas” which on 25 April 1944 was the protagonist of the shooting down of the B-24 SN 41-29272 of the 450th Bomb Group USAAF over the skies of Marradi. A new story to tell that many don’t know.
