Sunday, June 17: Newly Renovated Gotica Toscana Museum Spaces Inaugurated
A special afternoon at the MuGot – Gotica Toscana Museum, filled with events dedicated to memory and historical preservation. On Sunday, June 17, the museum officially inaugurated its newly renovated spaces, following a major restoration that lasted over four months.
The event was also covered by RAI 3, which featured a segment on the “Liberation Telephone” — sharing the moving story of Erio Breri, a Municipal Policeman and member of the Giustizia e Libertà partisan movement, who used the phone to contact Allied command during the summer of 1944.
Outside the museum, historic Jeeps were displayed as they prepared to set off on the Taranto–Trieste Raid, a 1,500 km journey along the Liberation routes. The crews will cross historic sites and war cemeteries to keep memory alive, honor the fallen, and remember the stories of the men who helped reclaim freedom.
The new MuGot exhibition also reflects growing international interest: with over 20% of visitors coming from abroad, new bilingual educational panels have been installed, featuring updated graphics that clearly and engagingly guide visitors through the museum experience.
📍 A small museum, a great story to experience and share.
We look forward to welcoming you in Scarperia, in the heart of the Gothic Line.
