From the Giogo Pass - in Mugello - passed the Gothic Line, made up of a series of defensive installations, stakeouts and bunkers, which from the Tyrrhenian coast reached the Adriatic Sea crossing the Apennines. The aim of the Germans was to prevent the advance of the Allies, who from July 1943 to April 1945, starting from Sicily, defeated the Axis troops, liberating Italy. This Guide illustrates the finds kept in the MuGot - the Tuscan Gothic Museum - mainly relating to the fighting that took place in the Giogo Pass area between 13 and 18 September 1944, which pitted the American and British infantry against the German soldiers entrenched on the Gothic Line. The places and materials of these battles, the names of the men who participated in them and their deeds are preserved in the MuGot, for future memory.
