The monument is located in the garden of the MuGot. It is dedicated to those who took part in the battles from September 12-18, including German units and soldiers. It was inaugurated in April 2022 on the occasion of the visit of two World War II veterans, Don Halverson of the 34th Division and Rocco Telese of the 85th Division, who returned to Italy to visit the battlefields where they fought. On this occasion, in the presence of the author Andrew Biggio, the book "The Rifle," dedicated to the stories of veterans, was presented.
The monument also mentions the 168th Regiment of the 34th Division and the 339th Regiment of the 85th Division, whose men took part in the battles at Monticelli and Altuzzo. In 2022, two more plaques were added in memory of Sergeant Charles Saunders of the 339th/85th and Lieutenant Cleron J. Carpenter of the 362nd Regiment/91st Division.
The monument and the outdoor space of the MuGot are available to anyone who wishes to commemorate a unit or an individual soldier who participated in these battles by adding new plaques, subject to agreement with the museum.
