Since 2009, the innovative Multimedia Museum has been active, born from a project by the Department of Archaeology (T.e.m.p.l.a.) of the University of Bologna and created in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Province of Rimini and the Municipality of Gemmano. The Museum, a true multifunctional centre, can host conferences, virtual and traditional exhibitions and can be used as a screening room or data consultation room, with wireless network access available.
In addition to enhancing the naturalistic material of the Onferno Nature Reserve, there is a section dedicated to the events connected with the passage of the Gothic Line, which saw particularly bloody battles take place between 4 and 15 September 1944, earning Gemmano the name “Cassino of the Adriatic”. In particular, on 9 September British troops attacked the German positions no fewer than four times. During the war, Gemmano also sheltered many displaced civilians in its caves. At the rectory of Farneto, already used as the headquarters of the clandestine CLN, on 7 September 1944 the parish priest Don Antonio Marcaccini saved the lives of 6 civilians condemned to be shot.
