Gotica Toscana aps participated in an important re-enactment initiative. TO eighty years give it Allied landing in Sicily, which marked the beginning of Italy's liberation from Nazi-fascism, a group of Jeep Willys has embarked on a significant journey. This caravan of vintage vehicles, departed from Signa (Florence) and headed towards Sicily, retraced the historical stages of Liberation campaign. Along the way, the civilian victims were honored and the sacrifice of the young soldiers who contributed to freeing Italy from the terrible horrors of conflict and dictatorship was remembered. An initiative aimed at sending a profound message of peace and keeping historical memory alive.
The essential stages of the journey include i war cemeteries, i museums of the cultural museum circuit “Italy War Route” hey symbolic places of the Italian Campaign. These places tell stories often unknown to the general public, linking the local population to the allied military. Furthermore, solidarity accompanies this mission: a fundraiser has been started for the association Tommasino Bacciotti of Florence, engaged in pediatric oncology research and supporting the families of young patients.
At the same time, in Sicily, the re-enactment of Operation Husky 1943. About 100 participants they have traveled 160km among the dunes of Macconi a Marina of Acate, old fashioned Biscari (today Acate), and at the airport of Saint Peter. This event was a real success, remembering the fallen and keeping alive the memory of the heroes and the horror of war during the conquest of Sicily.
In Tuscany, the focus will be dedicated to breakthrough of the Gothic line on the Apennines, with bunkers on pass of the Yoke and the Futa German cemetery. A journey through history, so as not to forget and to honor those who fought for freedom.
