The Historical Museum of the Gothic Line of Montemurlo, founded in 2000 by the Historical Research Group “Linea Gotica” of Montemurlo, is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of historical memory relating to the passage of the front during the Second World War in the provinces of Prato, Florence, Pistoia and Bologna. The museum’s collection includes more than 3,000 relics, including weapons, uniforms, documents, photographs and maps from the period, offering visitors an immersion into the wartime events that affected the Gothic Line. Among the most significant pieces are the remains of a RAF Supermarine Spitfire aircraft, found in 2002, and a collection of watercolours painted by the South African soldier James Orr during the Italian Campaign. The museum organises guided tours to deepen knowledge of historical events and promote awareness of the importance of peace. For updated information on opening hours and bookings, it is advisable to consult the official Facebook page or contact the museum directly.
