Traduzione: The International Documentation Centre “Gothic Line” (CID) is a private, non-profit cultural association, founded in Rimini on 27 January 1994 by the historian Grand Officer Prof. Amedeo Montemaggi. The main mission of the CID is to promote the collection, preservation and dissemination of documents relating to the Second World War, with particular attention to the Gothic Line offensive in Italy, known as the “Battle of Rimini”, which took place in the summer-autumn of 1944. The centre preserves a vast archive that includes photographs, maps, testimonies and materials from international archives, including Great Britain, the United States, Germany, Poland, India, New Zealand and South Africa. This collection represents a valuable resource for historians, researchers and enthusiasts, offering a detailed view of the wartime events and human experiences linked to the Gothic Line.

Traduzione: Over the years, the CID has organised exhibitions, conferences and publications to keep historical memory alive and promote a culture of peace, in line with the vision of its founder. After Montemaggi’s death in 2011, the centre continued its activities, facing the challenge of digitising and making its documentary heritage accessible to future generations. The CID is located at Via dell’Aquila, 27 in Rimini and is open to collaborations with institutions and individuals interested in the history of the Second World War and in the enhancement of historical memory.
