Housed in the Gotica Toscana Historical Documentation and Research Centre (CDRS), MuGot – Museo Gotica Toscana – tells the story of the Second World War. The task of forcing the first buttress of the Gothic Line at Passo del Giogo, in order to open the road to Bologna for the Allies, fell to the American Fifth Army of General Mark Wyne Clark.

MuGot preserves the memory of the wartime events that took place in September ’44. In Ponzalla (Scarperia), relics and documents are displayed as testimony to those highly significant battles. Inaugurated in 2011, MuGot extends over a large exhibition area and houses more than 2,500 historical relics, including uniforms, weapons, personal items and period documents. Through dioramas, reconstructions and information panels, MuGot offers an engaging narrative of the wartime events that swept through the Mugello in 1944. Four exhibition rooms allow visitors to immerse themselves in a vivid representation of those events, creating an educational and moving experience. MuGot presents itself as a place of memory, reflection and knowledge, honouring the victims of the conflict and preserving the history of the Liberation.

MuGot and the CDRS Historical Documentation and Research Centre of Ponzalla organise guided tours and battlefield hikes on request. Free admission for visitors under 14 and over 80.
