Historical Association censed in the Registry of the Tuscany Region
Gotica ToscanaAssociation is a Social Promotion Association founded in 2006. It deals with recent history linked to the Second World War. In particular, it explores the events, facts, men and materials relating to the "Gothic Line" in Tuscany and the battles of the Giogo Pass between the Allies and Axis troops which took place between 13 and 18 September 1944.
Gotica Toscana It is a social promotion association that carries out various activities aimed at enhancing the history of World War II and the Liberation.
- It conducts documentary and field research activities, such as the census and restoration of defensive positions and installations still identifiable at the battle sites, and by delving into the war events in the Apennines, reconstructing the history of the units and soldiers involved.
- It focuses on historical-archival research and the preservation of the oral memory of those who experienced the events of World War II in Mugello, contributing to the creation of related texts and books.
- Since 2011, it has managed the "CDRS" (Center for Documentation and Historical Research) located in Ponzalla, in the municipality of Scarperia e San Piero (FI), where artifacts, weapons, and equipment collected over time from the territory are preserved, along with materials donated or loaned by collectors and enthusiasts. The permanent collections are presented to the public in the MUGOT - GOTHIC LINE MUSEUM, open for visits on weekends, with the possibility of arranging appointments to also visit the installations—bunkers and battlefield—at Passo del Giogo, where the clashes between the Allies and the German army took place.
- It highlights the events and materials of World War II by organizing exhibitions of artifacts, conducting specific research, and arranging meetings and connections with veterans—and their families—who fought for our freedom in the Apennines and elsewhere.
- It organizes important annual reenactment events, such as A Dive into History – Open Air Museum® with the reconstruction of the clashes on the Giogo by re-enactors on days open to the public; or how The Column of Freedom®, with hundreds of vehicles and reenactors moving along the Liberation routes around April 25th. These events have become regular fixtures for enthusiasts and are "registered trademarks" of Gotica Toscana APS.
- It participates in various other associations, such as HMV – History Militay Vehicle, or Italian Recovery Team, offering its expertise in historical research, the recovery of individuals and artifacts, and the promotion of historical memory related to wartime events, materials, and locations.
