A real treasure box for military history buffs, who are interested in the Second World War and the Gothic line. Incredible items, all originals from the battlesides, near by. You can also book a bunker tour there. I spent 4 hours there. 3 parking lots for normal cars in front. Piccolo museo da vedere con la guida che, per un prezzo modestissimo, ti offre una visita coinvolgente e ricca di curiosità.
ECCELLENTE In base a 127 recensioni Arnold T17 Giugno 2024Verificata Visiting various WW2 sites east and west of the highway between Bologna and Florence Italy. Visited the museum on June 4, 2024. The visit was outside normal visiting hours and they opened the museum specially for us.The person from the museum was friendly and helpful. It was worth visiting the museum. Something special. Jo W6 Maggio 2024Verificata Must See Experience Just North of Florence This is a gem of a place and not to be missed whether you are a WWII enthusiast or not. Run by a passionate band of friendly locals who have lovingly set about unearthing the facts and artefacts of the battle for the Giogo Pass and Mount Altuzzo, the exhibits in the museum are astonishing in their number and variety and there is nothing that prepares you for their impact in bringing alive the story and the human experience of this episode in the War.We contacted the Museum before travelling to Florence and they very kindly arranged for one of their volunteers to pick us up from our hotel in central Florence. We were treated like royalty by Luca who proceeded to explain to us in impeccable English, the almost minute by minute narrative of the battle, pieced together from talking with men who had fought in the battle on both sides and re-visited to site. Many of the bunkers have been returned to their original state and the hairs on our necks rose as Luca explained how the battle unfolded over its 10 day course. It really is a very special place. We learned so much, made new friends and will always remember! Thank you :) Matthew B16 Settembre 2023Verificata Must visit for fans of WWII history We visited this museum as part of a tour sponsored by the National World War II museum in New Orleans, and all I can say is WOW. There are so many artifacts on display in this museum, and so much of it was in amazing condition. On top of that, the replica bunkers the museum staff built were amazing. The day we visited happened to be rainy, foggy, and muddy, which honestly made the experience all the more realistic. I felt like any moment we were going to see a squad of GIs coming over the closest hill to take a bunker. This gave us a feel for what the fighting was like here, which only enhanced my visit. Our guild knew so much about the fighting that took place in this part of Italy, and you could tell how passionate he was about this history. His command of the English language was also excellent, which made our visit all the more enjoyable. The only thing I would caution someone of before they visited is that the bunkers were on the top of a mountain, so reaching them on foot from the road wouldn't be easy for someone who has trouble getting around. Brad26 Maggio 2023Verificata WWII history brought to life in Tuscany This museum is a must see for anyone interested in the Second World War. Run by dedicated volunteers, many of them veterans themselves, this organization and museum have an impact much bigger than the size of the building would suggest from the outside. These amazing volunteers have a passion and expertise in WWII history and are a wealth of information. You will leave with a new appreciation for the battles fought here.If you have family that fought in the area of the Gothic Line in Italy in WWII, as I did, here you will find people with information about those units that can bring those events to life for you.The museum displays are well planned and executed. Most of the items are authentic, found or donated by veterans or their families. The maps, exquisite dioramas, and photos help to bring the past into sharper focus to help understand the events of that battle.Beyond the museum, the volunteers have marked trails and battlefields to allow you to navigate the route of the battle. Still other sites have been reconstructed to demonstrate the locations and conditions during the battle. The battlefield tours are highly recommended. If you have an interest in WWII history- Visit this museum. If you have a family connection to the Italian campaign in WWII- visit this museum. If you are touring norther Tuscany and want to learn more about the months when this beautiful area turned into a nightmarish battlefield- visit this museum. You will not regret it.While you are there, visit the gift shop area. There are books, artifacts, and other items available for purchase. Please consider visiting and supporting the great work of these dedicated individuals working to honor and preserve the history of all who fought here so long ago. Jürri H23 Maggio 2023Verificata Top Notch Museum about the Battle of Il Giogo Pass and the Gothic Line Well, this museum and their crew are very ambitious and have their hearts set on preserving the history of those who fought, were wounded or fell here. The museum, and the items on display, are of top quality. Most of the exhibits come directly from the embattled Il Giogo Pass and the two flanking mountain peaks, Monte Altuzzo and Monticelli.I have been visiting this place and the museum practically every year since 2012 and many of the museum crew have now become very good friends.I can only warmly recommend this little gem of a museum. Visit it to get an idea of what the soldiers from both sides had to go through back then.Top notch museum and a MUST see if you are in the area! See you again in 2024 my friends. They have some amazing artifacts donated by villagers and veterans through the years. Also, you can visit he German Gothic Line bunkers which are farther up the mountain in the Giogo Pass. I will definitely return ! Emily H9 Agosto 2022Verificata The Most Meaningful Museum Experience This was one of the most meaningful museums I have ever experienced. My Aunt and I were touring Tuscany following in family members' WWII steps and we happened to find this place online. We were in awe with how much information they provided and interesting insight. They even knew the exact route my my grandfather took during the war! The staff is incredible and passionate. Their dedication to preserving history is inspiring and I am thankful for the Museo Gotica. Special shoutout to Filippofor making it the best experience and for taking the time to show us around the area. The view from the top of the hill is great! Alexa A11 Giugno 2022Verificata Amazing establishment and staff! Museo Gotica is an incredible establishment, but even more importantly, its staff members are an absolute dream. I organized a group study trip to this area, and all the staff was so helpful before and during the trip. They opened the museum just for us on a Thursday, and they tailored the whole experience to us! They even sent study materials beforehand. The actual museum tour was amazingly valuable, and the guide's depth of knowledge gave us the context that we needed for the rest of our trip. I cannot recommend Museo Gotica enough! Janos28 Novembre 2019Verificata Historical tour Excellent and well organised exhibition! I really enjoyed the guide and the storytelling! Whole_fam_damly13 Agosto 2019Verificata Excellent - we definitely recommend it The museum is small but amazingly detailed and well organised. Would recommend to take a guided tour of the museum and the surrounding German bunkers which have been reconstructed by a passionate group of volunteers.Daniele, our guide, was excellent and made the history of the Linea Gotica come alive. Not to be missed if you are travelling thru the Mugello area.
